Board of Directors

Taylor Criste MSN, MBA, RN, CCRN, NE-BC
President
Current Employment: Nurse Manager, CTSICU and Telemetry Units, Allegheny General Hospital
Most of my career has been spent at Allegheny General Hospital, first as a nurse in the Cardiac ICU, but have progressed into various leadership roles throughout my ten year’s tenure at AGH. I became involved with the TRC AACN as I saw the value of the membership in advancing regional critical care nursing. Joining the Board positioned me to support the strengthening of this network and to continue to support regional professional development opportunities. I firmly believe we have a strong community and often engage with others throughout the organization to continue to drive excellence in my professional role.

M. Michele Tzanakis MSN, MBA, RN, CCRN-CMC
Treasurer
Current Employment: Professional Staff Nurse, MSN, Outpatient, UPMC
I have been an RN for over 37 years, with most of it being in Critical Care - starting in Cardiac Stepdown at AGH in the 80's and progressing through various roles - Staff Nurse, Charge Nurse, Clinician, Unit Director, Nurse educator, and to a Director of Critical Care Nursing at a New Mexico hospital system. I became a member of the AACN TRC chapter in 2018 as a Board Member - at large. I have since taken the role of Treasurer in 2023. I see the TRC board as a way to give back to the profession that has given me many opportunities to touch lives in ways. Our current Board Leadership encourages the thought that the AACN TRC can continue to be a place where critical care nurses can gather to learn from, and with, each other given the monthly educational offerings. I believe that it is, and that it can continue to be a forum to drive practice advancement and leadership development in Critical Care nurses by being a place to network

Wendy Grbach MSN, RN, CLNC, CCRN Alumnus
Membership Chair & Webmaster
Current Employment: Education Consultant & Nurse Educator; KbPort LLC
My Nursing career began over 39 years ago as a diploma grad, eventually obtaining my BSN, then MSN in Nursing Administration. I have worked 32 of those years at UPMC Presby CCU/CICU, as a bedside nurse, clinician, Administrator on Duty for the campus, and Unit Director. I worked at WISER for many of those years educating in RRT for multidisciplinary providers locally and nationally. I then held a faculty role at UPMC Shadyside SON for 10 years focused on Critical Care, but also held the role of Curriculum Developer for Simulation education for that period. I was privileged to engage my students for clinical experiences in the Presby CICU, and several went on to become employed in the healthsystem.
I became CCRN Certified in 1990 and joined the TRC at that time to enhance my professional and personal development. I have held all positions within the board structure over these many years, and while each turn of the succession wheel sometimes had speedbumps, (how many times can you really be president again? ;) ) we continue to survive and strive for our members' professional education to this day. Finally, I am a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant in private practice. My current employment is in Technology Solutions, educating faculty in use of our company medication dispensing product line and EMR, to enhance the knowledge and skill development of our future nursing graduates for ease of transition to practice.
As the most senior member on the TRC Board I'm excited to see what the future holds for the chapter!

Lori Laux RN,MS,MSN,APRN,NP,RN-C

Current Employment: Retired
I have been a nurse for > 40 years in a variety of roles with most of my time in critical care. I decided to join the board so that I could actively participate to support the work of critical care nurses.

Angela Brown MSN, RN, NE-BC
Board Member
Current Employment: Director of Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support at Allegheny Health Network.
As a nurse for 21 years, I sought the opportunity to serve on the board with a primary goal of positively supporting knowledge sharing among a broad and diverse community of critical care experts. Having worked several years in progressive leadership positions, I believe that I demonstrate effective leadership influence in establishing and adopting best practices that shape the future of the nursing profession. The profession of nursing has generously rewarded me with satisfaction and gratitude in my career choice, serving on this board allows me to give back to this community.

Ashley Dogan RN, BSN, CCRN-CMC

Jamie Swedron RN
Board Member
Current Employment: Vascular access team - Wexford Hospital
Currently I have been a nurse for 37 years. Most of my career was in CT ICU at UPMC-Presbyterian. In most recent years I have been working on an IV team which I am also board certified. Nursing is such a great career and I joined TRC AACN to meet other nurses across Pittsburgh to hear their challenges and how they are handling them and also get new ideas to bring back to my hospital. I became a direct at large because I wanted to have a voice at the local level and every organization needs members to get involved to keep the vision moving forward!
